　　When I was a small child, I usually thought it was a good luck to be sick in bed. You see, when you are ill, you can stay home. There is no need to finish so much homework. 　　A week ago, I was really in hospital. It was painful for me to stay in bed for several days. I couldn't get up. I couldn't even move. I didn't want to eat anything though there was a lot before me. She likes to chase and catch mice and sometimes she plays with butterflies. Sally often plays with balls and pieces of string. She does not like dogs and she hates the rain. She likes sitting on the sofa and watching TV.

　　Sally is a very good friend, but she is quite lazy! She never worries because we take good care of her. She is always a happy cat.

　　My home town is a beautiful place. It stands beside a wide river and is rich in fish and rice.

　　But in the old days it was a poor and backward little town. Many people had no work. They lived a hard life.

　　In 1949 my hometown was liberated. Since then great changes have taken place there. The streets have been widened. Factories, schools, hospitals, cinemas and theatres have sprung up one after another. The life of the people is greatly improved.
